RE: BIG CHANGES ARE COMING SOON (Nov 15 2023)

Is there an "Active" or "Newest" post tab? So far I see nothing that I would consider an improvement. It going to be much harder and more time consuming to use IMO. I agree. I just tried to browse a bit and not having active or newest spanning all sub forums will in the end be too much effort and less enjoyment. THink Im going to pass. Y'all have fun. Mike

RE: BIG CHANGES ARE COMING SOON (Nov 15 2023)

but there is no button.. IMPORTANT: The first time you log in to the new site after Wednesday, please use the RV.NET Users button to access your account. I did find it--click the little human icon However it will NOT let me log in and yes I do have my user name and password correct. Im going to go out on a limb and suggest that it's probably because the new site doesn't come online until Weds. Although I can confirm the "issue" as same here. Mike

RE: BIG CHANGES ARE COMING SOON (Nov 15 2023)

I know change can be good. And having owned and operated websites like this site in the past, it's not easy. Im hoping it's not totally like FB. I too don't use FB and really like the simplicity of message board forums like this. I also think this site is way over due for an upgrade, so I'll take it with a grain of salt and see how it goes. RE: I'm curious to know what you would do?

You had 5 valid reasons for not buying the 2023, then couple posts later, you're back on the bandwagon. Seems to me you've made up your mind (or maybe not). I think the smoking deal days are done here in the states too. My last good deal was in 2019, and I bought a 2017 Ram 3500, with 15 miles on it, for ~20K off. Had to drive out of state to get it, but was a good deal. Sold my 2014 Ram 2500 for more than I bought it used. I used to buy my wife a new car every 3 years. 6 years ago I decided to give leasing a try. First lease worked out fine, wasn't a big loss. Second lease, I brought it back and it was worth more than the lease payoff. That rarely happens, but timing was right with all the issues with computer parts etc slowing down inventory. I decided to buy the car vice go another lease route. Not too many people make money (or equity) on leased vehicles. Mike

RE: Installing an oven into a former rental rv

I think most of us cook outside. Even in the rain, I cook under the awning. To me, an oven would not be a deal breaker. Several options already shared. We've used the oven once in nearly five years. Twice actually if you count testing in PDI. Mike

RE: SEEKING TOW VEHICLE VALUE??

Agree with those who say you're doing something wrong. I've used KBB a zillion times, and have always gotten values immediately and have never left my contact info and never been contacted unless I wanted it. Mike

RE: Gulf State Park, AL

They will let you wait at the big lot beside the campground check in. That used to be where they had RV storage, but they no longer provide storage. You can wait there until check in. Saw a whole bunch there this past week. I just got back from there yesterday. Mike

RE: Best navigation app when towing a 5th wheel

I like Smart Truck Route. As the name implies, lets you plan travel along truck routes. It is subscription based, but if you travel alot, I think it's worth it. smartruckrouteDOTcom Mike

RE: Turning With A Long Bumper Pull Trailer

Nothing to add to the good advice already received. Just take it slow and use your mirrors. Adjust your mirrors if necessary to see the trailer tires on the right. Hopefully the main road is not too busy, and don't worry if you end up using the center turn lane. As long as it's not a 55 MPH road, if you end up slowing traffic to get out, I wouldn't worry about it. Mike

RE: I have a disgusting problem… HELP!!!

I wouldn't dump them in my septic. Even you don't know for sure if they added something that will negatively impact your septic. Personally, if a porta john cleaner couldn't or wouldn't do it, I would follow the suggestion of digging a hole and dump in hole over time. Mike

RE: Help with Refrigerator Decision

First consideration is how you're gonna get it inside the camper. My trailer is a Toy Hauler...No problem whatsoever getting old out and new in... Yeah, I don't think you'll have an issue there. OTOH - for me, I'd have to probably move my island and take out the pantry wall, or remove window. That's why I haven't done it yet. Mike

RE: Help with Refrigerator Decision

Agree on thinking through the physical remove and replace aspect first. But I would venture to say probably not much difference dimension wise on the various options. I looked at a 10 cu ft fridge yesterday and it was just a tad smaller than my current Dometic. Heck you may have just as difficult a time getting the old one out as getting the new one in. I've been thinking over the past year or so of doing the same. I've been leaning residential, but paying attention to this thread to see what others recommend. Price point wise, it's an easy decision. $400 vs $1500. Mike

RE: Selling an RV/payment

OP has stated he's not going to transfer or deposit in his bank. He wants to meet purchaser at a branch of the PURCHASERS bank, have the bank make the withdrawal and he walks out of the bank with the cash. Not necessarily how I would do it, but Im not him. I sold a 66 Fairlane to an out of state purchaser for 7K. Purchaser sent me a cashiers check and also paid for a transport company to pick the car up. I told purchaser no picking up car until cashiers check cleared my bank. It took three days for bank to release the funds into my account. Once cleared, transport company showed up, all good. Mike If the OP cashed the check and gets cash it will still be reported to the feds And unless the OP is putting the money in a mattress a bank/credit union/brokerage etc. will also be reporting the transaction. So instead of ONE transaction being reported, two will be reported. Less headache to use a transfer between accounts Totally agree. Just saying he's not interested in bank transfer. Mike

RE: Need advice if safe for my pickup to pull a heavy 5th wheel

I think you're flirtin with disaster. 1. Likely well over your weight ratings. 2. That old of a truck likely doesn't have added measures such as exhaust brake, tow haul mode. 3. Steep mountain passes. I have a 2017 Ram 3500 (non Dually). My 5th wheel is teetering around 15,000 lbs. I would not be comfortable towing 16,000 with it, especially steep mountain passes. You should be more than just a little concerned. Mike

RE: Blowout and Coach-Net

Similar service about six years ago with CoachNet. Truck blew water pump - middle of nowhere. Called Coachnet. Told them I was however many miles it was to next town (I knew where I was, but still middle of nowhere). I remembered street names I passed. Operator was able to pretty much locate me based on that. It was raining and dark out. She called to see if they showed up yet. Told her no. She called the tow truck driver, got a location, called me back and then followed up again given the ETA. Really great service. Glad to see it wasn't one-off. Mike

RE: Gulf State Park

Nice campground. Been there going on six years now. This year, my trip will be in Oct. Hoping it will be cooler than when we typically go, which is July. It is close to the beach. Park entrance is right across the street from beach. Nice bike trails through park. We really enjoy it. Mike

RE: Am I about to make a huge mistake?

Why even consider buying a RAV4 you have never seen that is across the country when you could buy one local.? Toyota made a million of them, find one close to home you can see and drive before you buy. Have to agree with Tyler. Is there something special about this RAV4 that makes it worth going through all this hassle? Mike

RE: Georgia State Parks new cancellation policy

I was glad to see they retained the "Reservations can be changed one time without penalty." rule. I've used that a few times when a date adjustment or a late site number change was was needed. Yup.. Me too. I've had to use it several times. Mike
